Because of the disappointment of the NearMe figure I looked for an alternative to use for my “tester” comic, Skye wasn’t right for what I wanted to do, (I can’t explain here as it would spoil the surprise), she was a little too serious and needed a more toonish figure like NearMe, but with better mesh resolution that didn’t require any post post work.
So I found Cookie, quite a well established figure with a good sized niche and some really good developers for her, she also had the added bonus of a male counterpart, (Chip), should I feel the need to develop any further idea’s. What was also a big bonus was the poses with NearMe also worked quite well her. Basically it was a win win situation to develop my project.
Those of you that know this figure may notice that the head size seems smaller than intended, whilst I like Cookie her head is too big for my liking on such a thin neck and the only downside of her, hence a 70% scale used. Little test rendering was used for this, I got her to jump straight into bed for me, (you’ll see what I mean), as I’ve already established what I was going to do with her. If you’ve looked at the NearMe section, you’ll notice a similarity between some of the images.
Daz recently updated to Studio 4 and initially it’s free, (reg cost around $50) and very much the same as my D3A, (and cheaper if I had to buy the new version). Has most of the utilities I usually like Uberenviroment2 which I find essential in my renders. Below are some of my test renders using the new programme.
