In the western culture there’s a fascination and a large fan base for Animé from the likes of Akira, Ghost in a Shell and many many more. For me the Japanese style has been something the Poser community have been trying to capture for quite a while, Daz’s Aiko wasn’t my first look at this style, I remember getting a morph for Vikkie 3 to turn her into animé face figure, unfortunately with my usual dire results back in my early days and what I did have has me promptly deleted.
Along with my slow disinterest in creating realistic work I stumbled upon NearMe, this was a top selling figure a few years back and I could easily see why, (incidentally it was actually created by a Japanese chap to add extra authenticity to her). It didn’t take long for me to formulate a little idea on how to develop a “test” comic format story and got several panels in noticing problems. The problem with NearMe for me and quite a shame was the joints, even in simple posing, joints had to be “touched up” to smooth out unsightly jagged edges.
I quickly abandoned her after eight panels as I was modelling the next scene set. Those original panels are long gone now as I’ve reworked them with a new model, but I still have some renders of what I did do.
